Family Birthdays

September 13, 2011

So today is Rhonda’s birthday! Can you believe it? The past number of years we have celebrated by having a bunch of people over, ordering Chinese food from the Hong Kong in Barrhead, and Todd makes an incredible baked cheesecake from scratch.

But this year was a little different. We’ve moved, haven’t quite developed a big group of friends Rhonda would like to have over, and I was too lazy to make cheesecake. So instead, we went to the Strathmore Station for supper – whoa was that ever great! A very large, very nice restaurant. They had a nice table hidden in the corner ready for the five of us, and we had an amazing meal, with incredible service! And, get this, if it’s your birthday, you get your meal AND dessert for free! We were so impressed, and we had a great evening visiting together and goofing around. If you are ever looking for a great place to eat and visit, the Strathmore Station is the place to go. By the way, the desserts are spectacular! We had two desserts to share, and we couldn’t finish them. Not only were they big, they were tasty, and very well presented!

Then we all went home and played a round of Ticket to Ride. And not only were the kids relatively friendly to each other, they actually took turns helping each other, and their little brother out! (And at board games, that never happens!;) I was so impressed with our kids today, and everyone was smiling and laughing!

Like the card that Rhonda got, too bad we have to wait another 365 days for her next birthday – we had so much fun at this one.

Oh yes, and Rhonda had a great evening too!
